Building Financial Sustainability
In cooperation with the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture, AVI will ensure our underserved villages have the business
education, tools, accessibility to USDA programming, and support needed to succeed as farmers and ranchers. AVI’s curriculum will focus on financial planning, business planning, tax planning, market planning, cooperative development
support, and technical support relative to the financial or business aspect. The program explicitly addresses small rural enterprises to overcome hurdles in running a successful farm/ranch operation.
Building Financial Sustainability Through Education in Rural Alaska will offer the following courses over five years with multiple offerings as demand dictates. The first courses began in the fall of 2022. This work is supported
by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
